This work health and safety course looks to develop the complete WHS professional. It is ideal for those currently working in Work, Health and Safety roles and are looking to take the next step.

To achieve this qualification, you must demonstrate competency in 5 core units and 5 elective units. Please refer below for the core units of competency and a sample of suggested electives:

- BSBWHS513 – Lead WHS risk management
- BSBWHS515 – Lead initial response to and investigate WHS incidents
- BSBWHS516 – Contribute to developing, implementing and maintaining an organisation’s WHS management system
- BSBWHS519 – Lead the development and use of WHS risk management tools
- BSBWHS522 – Manage WHS consultation and participation processes
Suggested Elective Units (5)
- BSBWHS517 – Contribute to managing a WHS information system
- BSBWHS518 – Manage WHS hazards associated with maintenance and use of plant
- BSBWHS520 – Manage implementation of emergency procedures
- BSBINN601 – Lead and manage organisational change

Entry Required Units (5)
- BSBWHS412 – Assist with workplace compliance with WHS laws

The course duration will vary depending on your experience, skills and chosen study mode. As a guide:
- Between 12 – 24 months depending on your current experience and skills
- Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL): 3-6 months- this term may be extended by Funding Criteria, amount of RPL awarded and subsequent Gap Training required – eligibility criteria apply
- Fee for service: 3-12 months subject to the amount of RPL awarded and subsequent Gap Training required
- CSQ
- Program completion date is 20 September 2022 (for the Higher Level Skills General Program 2020/21 Contract)
- Program completion date is 20 September 2022 (for the Apprentice Advance+ Higher Level Skills Program 2020/21 Contract)
Your skills will be assessed through a mix of practical and theory tasks. Which is essentially showing us what you’ve learnt and how you do it.
Theory may be assessed Online or via Workbook. Practical Assessment will be conducted at your place of work or work site with fit for purpose facilities and equipment which are to be made available to your FTA trainer & Assessor for training and assessment purposes.
