Course Structure What this course offers
This construction course is an entry-level qualification that aims to prepare you for a Trade Apprenticeship.
To achieve this qualification, you must demonstrate competency in 5 core units and 5 elective units from the options below.

Core Units (5)
- CPCCWHS2001 – Apply WHS requirements, policies and procedures in the construction industry (Pre-requisite unit)
- CPCCOM1012 – Work effectively and sustainably in the construction industry
- CPCCOM1013 – Plan and organise work
- CPCCOM1015 – Carry out measurements and calculations
- CPCCVE1011* – Undertake a basic construction project
Suggested Elective Units (5)
- CPCCCA2002* – Use carpentry tools and equipment
- CPCCCA2011* – Handle carpentry materials
- CPCCCM1011 – Undertake basic estimation and costing
- CPCCCM2006 – Apply basic levelling procedures
- CPCCCM2009* – Carry out basic demolition

The course duration will vary depending on your experience, skills and chosen study mode. As a guide:
- Fee for service: 3-6 months subject to the amount of RPL awarded and subsequent Gap Training required
- Workshop: 3 – 6 months
Your skills will be assessed through a mix of practical and theory tasks. Which is essentially showing us what you’ve learnt and how you do it.
Theory may be assessed Online or via Workbook. Practical Assessment will be conducted at your place of work or work site with fit for purpose facilities and equipment which are to be made available to your FTA trainer & Assessor for training and assessment purposes.
