Trade school, vocational education, higher education – whichever term is most relevant to you – all offer different ways to study. Unlike university, there is no one way suits all and, THAT is what we love about vocational training.
So, how do you like to learn?
Here is just a few options that you may not know you have, when it comes to study. It’s so critical that you study how you learn best so that you can achieve your goal!
Onsite Training
We like to think this is a bit of a game changer! Learn onsite, while you work. What does this mean to you? This means less time off the tools, sitting in a class (yeah we hear you!) and more time focused on practical skills and outcomes.
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)
RPL as it is often referred to, is a fantastic way to fast track a qualification. So if you’ve been doing what you do in an industry or even across a few industries – and you’re really good at what you do then – Awesome! RPL might just be the leg up you need.
RPL’s a great way to acknowledge all your existing skills and experience and this certainly supports you in working towards gaining a qualification. You need to be able to evidence that you’ve got a tonne of industry experience.
Apprenticeship
Earn while you learn! Now you can’t do that at University! We love the impact that gaining an Apprenticeship has not only on you but, within your chosen industry. It doesn’t matter if you are starting out, having just left school or are entering the industry at a mature age; undertaking an Apprenticeship is fantastic. Be part of the change you want to see in the industry. Ask yourself – which trade do you want to do? And then let’s work from there.
Online
Are you someone who is able to reach out and ask for help? There are many on line study provider options who offer support – but you need to ask. Human nature is to think we can do it by ourselves. Progress to success, which is why we don’t wait for you to ask. Get regular support from your trainer and our learning engagement officer who will keep you supported and accountable, while you study! Workbook
When on line scares you, sometimes we like to do it old-school! If you’re better on the tools than on a computer – we’ve got your back! At FTA, we’re determined to ensure you learn how you learn best.
Reading and Writing
Do you hide that you’re challenged by reading and writing? You’re doing a trade because you didn’t like school and you’re really good with your hands, but then there is more learning when you do a trade! So you battle the “I don’t need a bloody piece of paper to show that I can do my job” if any of this sounds like you – then we have your back. Many of our students have been full of this fear. We are not here to judge, we are here to support, guide and let you be the power in your own life, because we focus on the stuff that matters. Our Team have impacted lives, supporting students with their learning challenges, to gain self-esteem and career options with their chosen qualifications – it is done!
