We caught up with Finn, a graduate of FTA.
Finn gained a Carpentry apprenticeship in Brisbane this year after completing his AHC30916 Certificate III in Landscape Construction with Foundation Training Australia.
Finn started his course with the goal to learn new skills that he could apply across the many different trades available. Not sure what his future career would look like, Finn started his course hoping that he would get a better sense of what he liked and was good at.
“I wanted to learn and experience a range of different skills to work out what I liked doing in a trade and to also improve the skills I have to get more permanent work.”
At the beginning of his course, Finn was unemployed and had been cruising in and out of laboring jobs. Lacking the proper guidance to hone his skills he felt that he was getting nowhere.
For Finn, the qualification was the answer to gain great skills and be mentored by industry experts ‘who have seen it all’ across impressive careers. Finn’s commitment to his future paid off as on completion of his qualification he secured a carpentry apprenticeship with a local company.
“I got great one on one mentoring and was introduced to an employer who offered me full-time work as a carpenter apprentice”
Top stuff Finn!
