Pre-employment program

Open the door for full-time Apprenticeship opportunities with FTA’s pre-employment programs. These courses are specifically designed to build your capability and knowledge with job ready skills for your chosen trade.

Workbook

Sometimes we like to do it old-school! If you’re better on the tools than on a computer – we’ve got your back! At FTA, we’re determined to ensure you learn how you learn best.

Subjects

To achieve this qualification, you must demonstrate competency in 5 core units and 5 elective units from the options below.

* Prerequisite Unit Required

Core Units (5)

  • CPCCOM1012 Work effectively and sustainably in the construction Industry
  • CPCCOM1013 Plan and organise work
  • CPCCOM1015 Carry out measurements and calculations
  • CPCCVE1011* Undertake a basic construction project
  • CPCCWHS2001 Apply WHS requirements, policies and procedures in the construction industry

Suggested Elective Units (5)

  • CPCCCM2009 Carry out basic demolition
  • CPCCCA2011 – Handle carpentry materials
  • CPCCCM1011 – Undertake basic estimation and costing
  • CPCCCM2004 – Handle construction materials
  • CPCCCM2006 – Apply basic levelling procedures

Pathways

Graduates are able to confidently seek out an Apprenticeship in any specialised construction Trades. From carpentry to tiling and waterproofing, this course gives to the foundation construction skills Employers look for.

Career Opportunities

Course Duration

The course duration will vary depending on your experience, skills and chosen study mode. As a guide:

  • Fee for service: 3-6 months subject to the amount of RPL awarded and subsequent Gap Training required
  • Workshop: 3 – 6 months

Assessment

Your skills will be assessed through a mix of practical and theory tasks. Which is essentially showing us what you’ve learnt and how you do it.

Theory may be assessed Online or via Workbook. Practical Assessment will be conducted at your place of work or work site with fit for purpose facilities and equipment which are to be made available to your FTA trainer & Assessor for training and assessment purposes.
